Requirement #3Make a written plan for an overnight trek and show how to get to your camping spot using a topographical map and compass OR a topographical map and a GPS receiver. If no GPS receiver unit is available, explain how to use one to get to your camping spot.
- Find or make a Topographical Map. This map must have elevations and distances written in feet.
- Draw a path for a trek, which would be long enough for a good hike, a place to stop overnight, and another hike in the morning (or return hike). Make at least 3 turning points.
- Measure and write down distances between each point.
- Use the topographical map to write down the elevation of each point.
- Use the pythagorean theorem to determine the actual distance between each point. Where A = the distance between points, B = elevation, C = the actual distance
- Make an agenda, based on the distances for a trek, an overnight, and a morning trek (or return trip)
