Ft. Clinch State Park on Amelia Island has it all: Six miles of exciting Biking Trails, Beautiful Beaches, Surf and Pier, an Historic Fort, an Awesome Group Campsite, Hiking Trails, Shelling on the Beach, Volleyball, Swimming, and more. And all of this on an Island at the very top of Florida! We'll be able to look across an inlet and see wild horses roaming around in Georgia.
Read EVERYTHING on the rest of this Campout Information Page below, and familiarize yourself with all of the maps, including the interactive google map of the area (the secret word is somewhere on this page - parents don't point out/tell!).
Patrol Menu Page - Patrol Members may VIEW (but not edit) their menus any time as they are being developed. Grubmasters may go here to PRINT their menu ( once approved) before shopping. Patrol Leaders and Chief Cooks may EDITuntil approved by an adult leader.
BICYCLES
There are over 6 miles of biking trails on the island. The trail parallels a road, so if things get too rough on your bike, you can opt to go on the flat surface.
HELMETS - Required on the bike trail for ALL Scouts and Leaders, regardless of age. This is a Park rule, due to the fact that there are some drop-offs and trees.
BICYCLES - Try your best to get your bike ready, or make arrangements to borrow one from a friend. The most perfect bike would be a BMX or Mountain Bike, but other will do.
Tires - If you have thin street tires, like on a 10 speed, you will not be able to do the trail, only the street
Gears - Multi-speed bikes are best. If you have a 1 speed bike , it should be geared LOW (meaning you have to pedal a lot to go a short distance). This allows you to go up and down hills. If you can't run your bike easily through thick grass and up and down the driveway, it won't work for the trails, just the street
BICYCLE DROP OFF! - We will have a bicycle drop-off on Thursday, October 29th, at 7:00 pm at Faith Fellowship. We will take the bikes to a secure location overnight, and they'll be ready to go Friday!
