Peace River Fossil Dig Canoe Exploration

April 3rd-5th, 2020

Canoeing, Swimming, Camping, and DIGGING FOR FOSSILS!   This is Troop 337's fourth trip to Peace River.  We're staying at the historic Payne's Creek State Park.

The troop has sifters and a few shovels to share, but there's special equipment you may want, and plans to make, so, be sure to do your job to read and explore all information about this campout, read your info sheet, etc.



TO ATTEND THIS CAMPOUT SCOUTS (NOT PARENTS) MUST DO THE FOLLOWING 8 STEPS:
  1. INFORMATION SHEET - Print it, READ IT, and put it in your Troop notebook  Use it to prepare/pack for the trip.   
  2. PERMISSION FORM  - Print it, have your parents sign it, and bring it to the Troop Meeting with payment on May 4th Deadline
  3. Print this CANOE TRAIL MAP (two pages) study it, put it in a plastic baggie or dry bag or laminate it, and bring it canoeing! 
    • Our campsite is at Access Point #6, Paynes Creek State Park.   This is where we start
    • We will head South and stop for lunch at Access Point #7 - Lower CR 664-A Bridge
    • We will end at Access Point #9 - CR 652 Bridge - That's about 8 miles
    • We MAY have a continuance trek for 3 more miles to Access Point #10 - Pioneer Park
  4. You may also print this SATELLITE CANOE TRAIL MAP (three pages) - Not required but suggested
  5. AGENDA! - Every scout is required to bring an agenda.  Your SPL will send it out soon, and when he does, it will be posted here as well.
  6. Print out the Scout Personal Packing List or even better, click HERE to edit/save your own version in Ms Word so you can add your own stuff (best move).
  7. Explore everything on this web page (Campground information above, and other information, videos, and links below).  A Scout Is Prepared!  The secret word is not here, but can be found in the information (no parent help at all please)
